I absolutely love when I can share a squeaky clean YA book!! WOOHOO!! Not only that, but it's a story about pirates and romance and swordfights! A book this good is heading straight to my SARAH"S FAVORITES BOOKLIST!
Ximena Reale has been fighting with everything she has to leave her family's past in the past. She has scratched and clawed her way through the prestigious La Academia, the well known school that trains pirate hunters to guard the seas. Even though she is at the top of her class, there is no escaping the fact that her father and mother were hung for being notorious pirates. Ximena wants nothing more than to erase that tie from her life and to no longer be known as a daughter of pirates. The only way to accomplish her goal is to make it as a Cazador and gain the coveted Cazador Cloak. To do so requires an act of ultimate, indisputable bravery, and Ximena knows just the situation to pursue. The dreaded pirate, Gasparilla is back. If that wasn't enough, Gasparilla is a pirate that's been dead and buried for years. To the average person that sounds like a situation to stay away from, but to Ximena. it is just the ticket.
Both my daughter and I read this book, and we loved it! The second book in the series will be released soon, and we can't wait for it!
HEADS UP - There is a tiny mention of magic in the book.
