SHOT READY by Stephen Curry

GREEN LIGHT

AGES; 7TH GRADE - ADULT

On my recent trip to the shore, this was one of the books that I dropped into my beach bag and carried down the steps to my beach chair to read in the mornings. Taking into consideration the fact that this hardback book is 411 pages, it was a few noticed extra pounds added to my load, but boy, was it worth it!

Shot Ready is not only a book for improving basketball skills (I'm sure it will if you follow the suggestions), but it is an emotionally moving read about overcoming obstacle. It is so well written that it feels as if Steph Curry is standing right in front of us looking us in the eyes telling us about his basketball journey - not just all the fluffy, feel good stuff about championships won and rings awarded (while that's in there) . Instead, he opens up and tells you about the backyard love for the game, the in-season and out-of-season work, the time on the road away from family, the season he sat out because he thought he wasn't good enough, the injuries, the reality of aging in the basketball world, and so much more. Ultimately, what he offers up is the truth outside the glare of the spotlights, and I found it both captivating and refreshing.

Packed with loads of pictures from throughout Steph's life, this book is a great read for the basketball enthusiast, the Steph Curry fan, or the person who needs to hear about an unlikely individual making it big. Because I liked this book as much as I did, it is making its way over to my SARAH'S TOP PICKS booklist.

Sharing stories, building faith, and growing together, one book at a time.
