THE THING ABOUT PIE by Amy Hest. Illustrated by Christopher Thornock

November is here, and that means I have pie on the brain!! With Thanksgiving right around the corner, we all know that means pie, pie, and more pie!! But seriously, it doesn't have to be Thanksgiving time to enjoy pie. It can be a year-round obsession!

Growing up in a Swedish family, a piece of pie and a cup of coffee was perfect no matter the season or time of day! I guess that means I come by my love of pie honestly!

The Thing About Pie is a beautiful picture book dedicated to not only the making of pie, but the sharing of pie with a very special person-grandpa. It specifically highlights the deliciousness of blueberry pie, and while that may seem like a more summery type of pie, the illustrations have lots of muted yellows, oranges, and brown making this a picture book suited for either summer or fall.

To top this already perfect picture book off is the included recipe for blueberry pie in the back of the book. WIN!!! Is there anything better than reading about pie and then making it, or maybe making pie and eating it while you read the story, or maybe doing both on different days?! Sounds like Heaven to me!

Sharing stories, building faith, and growing together, one book at a time.
