I am not a horror person in general. However, I do enjoy the occasional spine-tingler. When I saw this book tucked in with the classics at the bookstore, I decided it was coming home with me to try. After all, it included stories from Victorian literary greats such as Charles Dickens, Robert Louis Stevenson, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and others. Truthfully, I enjoyed some of the stories more than others, but overall, I looked forward to snuggling down in bed at night and reading tales about lone places along the trainline, bodies needed for science, and ghostly events in the Arctic. I found it to be a perfect fit for this time of year.
HEADS UP - There are ghosts, murders, and other spine-tingling elements. Overall, the book is not gory.
