IF YOU RUN OUT OF WORDS by Felicita Sala

With Father's Day right around the corner, this is a wonderful picture book to get your hands on to read!

If You Ever Run Out of Words is an especially endearing story. It begins with a little girl watching her father talk all day, and she wonders aloud to him, "What happens if you run out of words? Will you have any left for me?" He tries to reassure her that could never happen, but as any of us who have young kids (or had young kids that are now grown) know, that is a statement that is the fertile ground in which the seeds of a little mind's "what-ifs" can be planted! A whole universe and fantasy world of exploration launch at that moment with all the obstacles that could come between the communication of a father and his daughter. Everything from elves, to flying a rocket ship, to being shipwrecked on an island, to needing the smartest minds in the universe (picture shows aliens)to help a father get back, and more. But it's the moment that the father pulls something from his pocket to give her that shows he's already made the trip that absolutely makes this a knock-it-out-of-the-park picture book. Absolutely love!!

I have to throw a plug in here for Sala's illustrations. Her artwork brims with a child's imagination. Colorful and full of what feels like every possibility imaginable, it reflects a child's thoughts perfectly.

I have mentioned before that I am becoming a Felicita Sala fan. This is my third or fourth book that I have read by her, and I am hooked! (Want to know what else I've loved by her? Put her name in the search bar!)

Sharing stories, building faith, and growing together, one book at a time.
