DANCE OF THIEVES by Mary E. Pearson

YELLOW LIGHT

AGES: 10TH GRADE and UP

Dance of Thieves is a high-action romantasy that will absolutely captivate readers. It is a hard read to put down. However, there is some content to be aware of even though this book rates on the low side of the "spice scale' when googled.

Kazimyrah "Kazi" has worked her way out of the gutters of Brightmist and into the Rahtan, the queen's elite guard. Known for her fierce loyalty and her ability to stand her ground, she and two other Rahtan guards are entrusted with a mission to confirm rumors surrounding the remote city of Hell's Mouth. News has reached the queen that the Ballenger family is taking over and causing serious trouble for the residents that live there. Upon arrival, Kazi and her friends unknowingly encounter the Patrei, Jase Ballenger, in a street altercation. Since he is the current head of the Ballenger family, it's evident that something is definitely up in this town, but what exactly? When both Kazi and Jase are abducted by slave traders, it's clear the Ballengers aren't the only ones causing the havoc. Forced to rely on each other to survive, Jase and Kazi must figure out who really is behind the attacks and why.

HEADS UP - There is language lightly scattered throughout the book. There are no f-bombs. There is heavy kissing. There is one spot where I thought it was possible that one of Kazi's friends was having sex. It is mentioned briefly that moaning is going on. The book is listed as having no sex, so it must be considered heavy making out. Sex is definitely on the minds of some of these characters, because they ask each other at different points if someone has done "it." It's typically answered "no," but once the answer is "yes" when someone is pregnant. There are no explicit details.
